First time Foursomes Finalists for Isle of Purbeck

ISLE OF PURBECK’S Cathy Brett and Sue Pride raced into the grand finals of The Daily Mail Foursomes knocking out mother and daughter Marianna and Rebecca Gush from Mullion to take the prized spot, writes Cara Sloman.
The Dorset duo were one of the first teams to secure a place in the October showdown at Slaley Hall after they wrapped up their latest victory 2&1 at home.
Before this winning run, the pair had never played foursomes together and a thrilled Brett, off 20, admitted: ‘We can’t quite believe it. It really has worked well. We’re both quite competitive. It’s not an easy format. If you’re not playing well it’s hard to pull yourself into the game. We’ve had our moments and had to work hard.’
Brett is following in her niece Ashleigh Wood’s footsteps, as she reached the semi-finals of the world’s largest amateur golf tournament two years ago, representing Morecambe.
‘She had a fabulous time and has told us what a wonderful time we’ll have,’ said Brett. Adding: ‘It’s all very exciting. It is quite an achievement, especially as we have such a small band of ladies.’
