REIGNING men's champions Cosby have picked up where they left off last year with dominant duo Luke Burrows and Matt Peyton striving to defend their trophy in the Daily Mail Foursomes, writes Kieran Gill.
Leicestershire pair Burrows and Peyton won the tournament in 2018 by beating Hurlston Hall in the final, three years after they finished runners-up.
Cosby have continued their dominance this year by cruising into the third round. They defeated Glen Gorse 9&7 in the first before seeing off Whetstone 9&8 in the second.
Next up they face an away clash with Kilworth Springs, as they aim to make it all the way to Slaley Hall, the exciting new venue where the finale to the world's biggest amateur golf competition will be held.
Meanwhile, St Melyd took a share of some Daily Mail Foursomes history in the second round as Roger Williams and Nigel Pardoe battled through eight extra holes before claiming victory on the 26th, equalling the tournament record. The St Melyd pair won their marathon match against Eastham Lodge.
