Elmwood pair storm through to Finals

ELMWOOD’S clubhouse assistant Euan Harrison and greenkeeper Daniel Lang have tried to keep a low profile in this year’s Daily Mail Foursomes, but their secret is definitely out now they need time off to compete at the grand finals, writes Cara Sloman.
The Scottish duo are rookies in the world’s largest golf competition and have only being playing together for seven months. Nonetheless they stormed into next week’s showdown at Marriott St Pierre after easing past Alex Wood and Danny Trueman from Royal Tarlair 6&4 at home in the seventh round.
‘We tried to be under the radar,’ admitted five handicapper Harrison. Before adding: ‘You don’t want to be big headed, but you have to enjoy these moments in life because they pass quite quickly, so you need to enjoy them while you can.’
The pair have been inundated with good luck messages from proud colleagues and members since the news of their achievement broke and Harrison added: ‘Hopefully we can end the season on a high. We’ve taken it a stroke, hole and game at a time.
‘We just understand each other’s game and we bounce off each other well. When one of us makes a mistake we’re not too fussed about it. You can’t change what has been.’
It has been a busy summer for Harrison, who had the honour of giving his sister, Linda, away to tv presenter Ade Adepitan at St Paul’s Cathedral. He said: ‘In the last month I’ve been in Hello magazine, the local paper and now this.’
The last 16 men’s and women’s pairs come from all over England, Scotland and Wales and the couple will have one of the longest drives to the championship course in Chepstow, so they hope they will not be making the return journey home to Fife empty-handed. Harrison said: ‘We would love to bring the trophy home.’
