Rare test for Stewart and Todd

Daily Mail
07 Aug 2012

KENNY STEWART and James Todd have enjoyed such a remarkable run in this year’s Daily Mail Foursomes that their sixth-round encounter must have come as a shock to the system.
When the pairing from Stirling lost the 15th hole to Balfron’s Stuart Jamieson and Jim Hopes in round six, it was the first time they had trailed at any stage of the tournament.
They had not been taken as far as the 17th hole in any of their matches this year, and only twice had they gone to the 16th green, beating Falkirk’s William Crozier and Gordon Gillan 4&2 in round two and Grangemouth brothers Allan and Ross Kane 3&2 in the fifth round.
Their other two matches have been closed out on the 14th green as they comfortably beat Glenbervie’s Chris Scott and Alaistair Barclay 6&4 in round three and Lothianburn’s Allan Mitchell and Gary McClelland 5&4 in the following round.
So they were entering new territory when they stood on the 16th tee one down in the sixth round. Normal service was quickly resumed, however, as Kenny and James birdied the 16th to level things up and, although they needed extra time to complete their victory, the Stirling pairing closed out the game on the 19th hole.
Now they need just one more victory to make finals week at the Marriott Forest of Arden in October.
