Two Clubs still in with a double chance.

TWO clubs are still in with a chance of sending both their men’s and women’s pairings to finals week in this year’s Daily Mail Foursomes.
The players from Accrington & District and Christchurch all triumphed in their fifth-round matches, meaning they need just two more wins each to reach the showpiece occasion, which this year will be hosted by the Marriott Forest of Arden.
Accrington father and son Kevin and Shaun Taylor reached the sixth-round with a 2&1 victory over Robert Barron and Paul Gregson at Fishwick Hall, while June Crossley and Mandy Oldham joined their male counterparts from the Lancashire club when they beat Settle’s Janet Lassey and Magaret Eccleston, also 2&1.
Meanwhile, on the south coast, Christchurch’s Martin Jones and Christian Williams eased through round five with a 4&3 victory over Ashley Woods’ Steve Sanger and Tim Norman.
That feat was matched by the Dorset club’s Melanie Proudley and Trish Brodie, who beat Chris Jowett and Anne Agnew at Long Sutton in the fifth round. In fact, their 6&5 victory was even more emphatic.
However, that was in stark contrast to the previous round, when Melanie and Trish were taken to the 22nd hole before beating Knighton Heath’s Sally Greenwood and Sue Bond.
