Silverdale Hunters continue the chase for the Finals

Daily Mail
22 May 2012

THREE members of the Hunter family from Silverdale Golf Club are making a determined charge at the Daily Mail Foursomes titles this year.
And Ian Hunter has enlisted some expert help for his run to the fourth round.
Ian Rigg and brother Graham lifted the foursomes trophy in Saunton as long ago as 1988.
Now Ian Rigg and Ian Hunter, both in their fifties, have reached the fourth round this year after a 3&2 victory over Lansil’s Andrew Seddon and Simon Dellow in round three.
Ian Hunter’s wife and daughter, Margot Hunter and Sarah Cousins, are making it a two-pronged assault on the finals for the Silverdale club in Carnforth, North Lancashire.
The Silverdale women also made it through the third round when they beat Carol Moorcroft and Margaret Latham, of Southport Ladies, 4&3.
Margot and Sarah are not short of experience in the Daily Mail Foursomes either, having reached finals week at Marriott St Pierre in 2010 before going out in the last 16 to Gatton Manor’s Rita Rice and Kim Newman.
The foursomes flame is also refusing to go out in Great Torrington for former champion Mark Hill.
Mark, who won the trophy with Tony Gooch at Marriott Dalmahoy in 2008, and Gary Petherbridge reached the fourth round with a 2&1 victory over Saunton Artisans’ Dave Jarvis and Mark Pedler.
The finals this year will be played at the Marriott Forest of Arden in October.
