Cobbs target repeat

Daily Mail
14 Jun 2011

Malcolm and Daniel Cobb are over halfway to an unlikely double after an emphatic victory in the Daily Mail Foursomes' fourth round.
The father and son from Brokenhurst Manor went all the way to the quarter-finals at Marriott St Pierre last October before losing to the eventual champions.
Now they have negotiated four of the seven rounds before this year's finals week at Marriott Dalmahoy following a 7&6 victory over Wellow's Jim Hayball and John Osman in the fourth round.
Malcolm, 51, said: 'We would love to get back to the finals. It was a wonderful experience at St Pierre and we would like some more of it.'
It is the fourth time Malcolm and 28-year-old Daniel have represented the Hampshire club in the foursomes.
After going out in the seventh round in 2002 and, ominously, in the fifth round in 2003, they finally made it to finals week last year, when they were edged out in the quarter-finals by Stuart Pinder and Lee Chape, of Boldon, by one hole, having been one up with just three holes to play.
Stuart and Lee went on to beat Mid-Kent uncle and nephew Barry and Darren Smith in the final to put the name of Boldon, in Durham, on the men's trophy.
However, the club's reign as men's champions came to an end when this year's representatives, Andrew McCarrick and James Garencer, went out in the fourth round, beaten 2&1 by Westerhope's Ben Forster and Sean Potts.
