Captain Cowie's winning habit

FORMER England squash coach Alex Cowie is making quite an impact after switching her attentions to golf.
Alex, who guided her country to seven world squash titles, has been made Norfolk county golf captain this year.
Now Alex, 56, is looking to repeat the feat of Kevin Pratt four years ago and lift a Daily Mail Foursomes trophy while captain of the county.
Kevin and Stuart Tough, from the Costessey Park club on the outskirts of Norwich, took the men's title at the Marriott Forest of Arden in 2007. Now Alex and England senior international Jo Ashmore, whose Barnham Broom club is just seven miles from Costessey Park, are looking to lift the women's trophy when the finals switch to Marriott Dalmahoy in October.
The formidable Norfolk pairing teed off their foursomes campaign with a comfortable 4&3 victory over Mundesley's Pat Jackman and Angie Sargent before another home triumph, 2&1 over Bungay & Waveney Valley's Liz Lord and Alison Chipperfield, in round two.
However, they did not have things all their own way on their first away trip as they were taken to the 20th hole by Beryl Nash and Eileen Banham before triumphing at Caldecott Hall in round three Jo, 53, said: 'Foursomes is a tough game and you both have to be playing well to come out on top. We have given lots of shots but we have played well so I think we have a good chance (of going to the finals).'
