Epic victory for Alresford

Daily Mail
26 Apr 2011

JANE SCOTT and Lin Travers triumphed after one of the longer games in the Daily Mail Foursomes.
The ladies from the Alresford club, near Winchester, had to go to the fifth extra hole before seeing off Bowood's Hilary Marsh and Margaret McLauchlan in this year's second round.
Jane, 47, said: 'I have never gone that far in a match in my life before. But we are fairly determined and we didn't give up.'
Jane and Lin knew they were in a match when they halved the first hole with a birdie. But they saw an early four-hole advantage clawed back by the 18th. Three pars were needed to keep the game going to the fifth extra hole, where they finally closed out victory.
South Winchester's Linda Kershaw and Denise Wilson have had to go to extra holes in each of their first two games.
The Hampshire ladies went to the first extra hole against Corhampton's Christine Cheesman and Dale Hunton to get their campaign off to a winning start in round one.
But, if they thought that was tough, it got event harder in the second round, when they were taken to the third extra hole by Royal Winchester's Dyane Davis and Lynne Brace.
