Final dream for two great Scots

Daily Mail
31 May 2011

Marriott Dalmahoy's Brad Muir and Graeme Clyne are still dreaming of being there
when their club host the Daily Mail Foursomes finals in October, after beating
David Lamb and Mike Pirie from Murrayfield 5&3 in their third round match. Muir and Clyne
are the only pair still standing from the three venues which regularly host the finals
following a cull of the Marriott representatives in the third round. Hopes that
Marriott Dalmahoy's Marjory smith and Maureen Robertson could also play in a final on
their home course were dashed when they were beaten 5&3 by Sheila Lyon and Corinne Alexander
from the nearby Kingsknowe club in Edinburgh.
At the same time, Teresa Douthwaite and Rosemarie Hannam from Kenilworth in the West Midlands,
edged out Irene Langley and Lynda Ward from the Marriott Forest of Arden by one hole.
In the men's third round, Bristol's Jerry Walker and Shane Painter knocked out Marriott
St Pierre's Rodney Kidd and Paul Holley with a 3&1 victory - and that followed the St
Pierre pair's 8&7 win over Cleveden's Steve Lawrence and Phil Austin in the second round.

Muir and Clyne now take on Castle Acre's Neil Ballingall and Grant Stewart who reached the
fourth round by beating Lundin's Alastair and David Thomson. That is the first of four matches
the Marriott Dalmahoy pair must win if they are to play in the finals, when the last 16 men's
and women's pairs will gather in Scotland to battle for the two titles.
