Hot-shot Hannah the danger now

Daily Mail
05 May 2009

After the early demise of champions Kelly Hanwell and Kirstie Jennings, one of the more prized scalps in the women’s competition of this year’s Daily Mail Foursomes will be that of Cradoc’s Hannah Jenkins.

Hannah, 24, was a member of the Wales side who won the home internationals series at Wrexham last September for only the second time and the first time in nine years. Her sixth place finish in the European Nations Cup at Sotogrande six months earlier also helped her country finish runners-up in the event.

THe two-time Monmouthshire county champion has teamed up with Margaret Jones, 40, to form a formidable-looking partnership for Cradoc. The pair have breezed into the third round with two 3&2 victories, the second disposing of Llandrindod Wells’ Marion Phillips and Lyn Evans.

Hannah and Margaret made light of giving away 12 shots to go into an early three-hole lead and at one time stretched their advantage to five holes before closing out victory at the 16th.

Players must win seven matches to make the finals week, contested by the last 16 men’s and women’s pairs in October at Marriott Forest of Arden, which has hosted the British Masters and English Open.
